Jersey Hospice Care is delighted to again offer a placement opportunity for student counsellors who are in the second year of their level 4 diploma in counselling & psychotherapy to support them in completing their 100 hours of counselling.
A placement with the Jersey Hospice Care Community Bereavement Service offers a great opportunity to link skills and theoretical learning to professional therapeutic practice, as well as offering on-going training opportunities, networking and support. We aim to provide an environment of learning and development within this specialist field.
Although we welcome students from all counselling modalities, the Bereavement Service works from the Person-Centred perspective. Placement is only with adults who have been bereaved and have consented at the time of the assessment to be supported by a student on a placement.
Students are required to arrange their own supervision as part of this placement, prior to commencement of placement. You will be expected to complete your 100 hours during normal working hours, Monday to Friday, between the hours of 9am to 5pm. This is to ensure a qualified counsellor is always present when students are counselling.
We have 2 placements available to commence from April 2025, after attending our training day, which is mandatory for the placement.
