The Hospice Shop East opening attracts UK creator and second-hand fashion stylist!

Tuesday 08 Apr 2025

Jersey Hospice Care is delighted to announce that its new shop is officially opening this Saturday at Holme Grown in Grouville with special guest - Jennifer Graham, affectionately known as Charity Shop Girl.

Known by her 102k Instagram followers as @charityshopgirlcsg, Jen is a self-confessed charity shop addict and has become a trusted voice on social media, helping to remove the stigma associated with charity shops and helping people to find their own style while embracing second-hand shopping.

“I’m really excited to be returning to Jersey – a place that’s very close to my heart. I used to live on the Island and my son was born there so we have many fond memories. I’ve been following Hospice’s journey in charity retail for a few years now having visited their shop in St Ouen in 2023. The addition of this new shop is very exciting, and I can’t wait to see it in person and meet the colleagues, volunteers, and of course, the shoppers!”

The Hospice Shop East is the third shop for the charity which relies on income from retail, along with fundraising and events, to raise 57% of the £8 million pounds a year it costs to keep their services running.

Cheri Strudwick, Director of Income Generation and Marketing said:

“The cost of running Hospice increases every year and our shops play a vital role in raising the funds we need to keep delivering outstanding end of life care and support to our patients and their loved ones. This recent investment in a third shop was the natural progression for our retail offering, serving those shoppers in the east of the island and providing an additional drop off point for donations.”

The new shop promises to be a game changer for charity shopping in the island with a modern and contemporary interior, and a shopping experience that’s both stylish and sustainable.

Marcus Meadows, Head of Retail for Jersey Hospice Care said:

“We’ve created a unique space at The Hospice Shop East that will really change the perception of what a charity shop looks like. Much of the interior has been created from recycled materials making the project as sustainable as possible and providing the perfect showcase for pre-loved treasures. It’s been many months in the making and I’m incredibly proud and excited to be opening to the public this weekend. I would like to take this opportunity to thank publicly the many colleagues, volunteers, and third-party service providers who together have helped us to create something quite special.”
