New Chief Executive for Jersey Hospice Care to take up role in July

Wednesday 16 Apr 2025

Jersey Hospice Care is delighted to share the appointment of its new Chief Executive, following the announcement last November that Mike Palfreman, Chief Executive of Jersey Hospice Care, is due to retire this summer.

Since then, the Board of Trustees – led by Chair Goetz Eggelhoefer – conducted a comprehensive recruitment process and are now pleased to announce the appointment of Rachel Street to the role of Chief Executive.

Rachel has been Chief Executive at Heart of Kent Hospice in Maidstone, Kent since 2021, previously holding the role of Finance Director. Rachel brings a wealth of experience to Jersey Hospice Care from her time at Heart of Kent Hospice. Rachel and her family will be relocating to the island in the summer.

Goetz Eggelhoefer said, “We are delighted to welcome Rachel and her family to the island and to Jersey Hospice Care. I look forward to working with Rachel and the Executive Team to execute our Hospice strategy over the coming years.”

Rachel Street said, “I am excited to be joining the team at Jersey Hospice Care in July as Chief Executive and supporting the delivery of outstanding palliative care for the island. I have more than six years' experience in the hospice sector, including working as Chief Executive at Heart of Kent Hospice, and am a chartered accountant with experience in community healthcare operational management.

Jersey Hospice Care has a very special place in the hearts of islanders, and I am looking forward to supporting the team in continuing their great work in making sure everyone living with a life-limiting condition, and their loved ones, are well supported and cared for.

It is a great privilege to be coming to work at Jersey Hospice Care and to be part of the Jersey community. I am looking forward to meeting the many colleagues, volunteers, and supporters who make Hospice’s care possible."
