Season's Greetings

Tuesday 17 Dec 2024

Christmas is often a time for reflection as we look back on the past year and make plans for the year ahead.

As I write this Christmas message to you, I feel immensely proud of everything that Hospice has achieved during 2024. We continued to deliver care and support to islanders with a life-limiting condition, and those close to them, whether that was on our In Patient Unit, in the community, or through our Bereavement Service.

To support this work, we ran a full programme of fundraising and retail activities. Our flagship events including Half Marathon, Moonlight Walk, Dragon Boat Festival, and Tour de Jersey were all a huge success. More recently, we filled the streets of St Helier with hundreds of Santas - all dashing for a good 'clause'!

Our shops continued to thrive and we were delighted to announce we will be opening a third shop at Holme Grown in Grouville early next year, bringing a much needed increase in revenue from retail.

It is with mixed emotions that I look forward to 2025. We are excited to be moving forward with our ambitious three year strategy (2024 - 2026), as we look to increase our reach and bring in some new services to meet the growing demands on our work. On a personal note, I recently announced that I will retire in the summer of 2025. My passion for Hospice and our amazing work on island remains undimmed and I fully intend to bring a number of opportunities and challenges to a satisfactory conclusion before I depart.

May I take this opportunity to thank you for all your support. Your Hospice has always been at the heart of the community, making a significant difference to the lives of many islanders, and I know that - with your support - this will continue long into the future.

I wish you a happy festive season and a New Year that fulfils your hopes and dreams.
