We are delighted to announce that we will be opening a new charity shop within Holme Grown farm shop in Grouville. In addition to our existing locations in St Ouen and St Helier, the new premises will give supporters in the east of the island more convenient access to donate items and shop for preloved goods.
Marcus Meadows, Head of Retail at Jersey Hospice Care, said:
“We’re thrilled to be opening a new shop in Holme Grown. With a great café and fantastic local produce on offer in the farm shop, it’s an ideal location for our customers, especially those living in the southeast of the island. We aim to make our shops as accessible as possible to all islanders, whether they’re donating, shopping, volunteering or working for us, and this third shop in Grouville opens a whole new catchment area for us.”
“Our current plans are that Holme Grown will have a donation point, and customers will be able to shop for furniture, women’s and men’s fashion, footwear, accessories, childrenswear, toys, linens, china, glass, and kitchenware. We plan to be fully open by the end of February next year but hope to have a number of pop-up events at the Holme Grown site in the lead up to Christmas.”
We have been working closely with Holme Grown on this exciting project.
Stanley Payn, Owner of Holme Grown said:
“Over the years we have constantly developed our offering to meet the needs of our customers, and we’re really excited to be able to introduce this great new addition to our shopping experience. It's also a valuable opportunity for us to support Hospice – a charity that nearly all of us will rely on at some point in our lives, whether directly or through loved ones. We look forward to opening this new part of our shop and continuing to develop our purposeful partnership with Hospice.”
Retail is a vital source of income for Hospice which, alongside Government funding and fundraising initiatives, helps meet the £6 million a year it costs to run our services.
Mike Palfreman, Chief Executive of Jersey Hospice Care, said:
“Our popular shops in St Ouen and St Helier are successfully providing Hospice with around £1 million of essential income each year to support our services. With an ageing population, demand for our services is only set to rise and so we are constantly seeking ways to maximise our current income streams as well as developing new ones. We hope that opening a third shop in Grouville will not only benefit those living in the area, but will also help provide some of the funds needed to meet our ambitious plans.”
This exciting new opening will generate several retail vacancies, alongside volunteering opportunities – if you are interested in finding out more about these, please contact our People Team - PeopleTeam@jerseyhospicecare.com
