‘Seas’ the summer with our 30 Bays in 30 Days challenge!

Monday 03 Jun 2024

You can now sign up for our exciting summer challenge where we encourage you to explore and enjoy 30 different bays in the month of July.

We want you to swim, paddleboard, kayak, surf – or anything else you can think of! The challenge is open to people of all ages who want to get outdoors and take advantage of our stunning beaches, while raising money for two local charities – Jersey Hospice Care and the National Trust for Jersey.

Cheri Strudwick, Director of Income Generation and Marketing, Jersey Hospice Care said:

“We started 30 Bays in 30 Days back in 2016 after Le Bourg Hospice in Guernsey had been running a similar event really successfully for a few years. It has since become a staple in the Jersey events calendar but despite the increase in popularity of sea swimming we have seen the numbers of people taking part dwindle in recent years.”

“The funds raised from events like this are vital to keep our service running for all islanders with a life-limiting condition so, this year, we’re urging islanders to register to support us and have some fun along the way.”

The registration fee is just £15 for adults and £7.50 for children and the first 200 participants will receive a free swimming cap. We’re also really excited to have teamed up with local artist Lauren Radley this year who has designed a map and sticker chart for younger swimmers who we’re asking to complete just 12 Bays in 30 Days.

Donna Le Marrec, Marketing and Events Manager, National Trust for Jersey added:

“We have a change of location for our opening and closing swims this year and are really pleased to be holding them at Grève de Lecq, the site of the former Seaside Café which is just one of the projects that 30 Bays will be helping to support via our Coastline Campaign. This challenge is all about getting out, having fun and exploring our beautiful coastline and there’s no better way to appreciate it then from the sea.”

30 Bays in 30 Days wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of our sponsor, LV Care Group. Chris Shelton, Chief Operating Officer of LV Care Group said:

"The 30 Bays in 30 Days challenge resonates deeply with our commitment to community involvement and well-being. We take pride in supporting this popular annual fundraising event, and providing opportunities for both our residents and staff to partake in Jersey's stunning coastal experiences all whilst making impactful contributions to two very worthy causes."

The opening swim will be at Greve de Lecq on Sunday 30 June at 11:30. We are closely monitoring the levels of E-coli in the water and any change in location for the opening swim will be communicated nearer the time.
